In days gone by, most brides would register for a china pattern. The U.S. particularly utilizes the term "china" in reference to the "good" or "coveted" dishware. Therefore, these pretty place settings are reserved for special occasions and holidays in most homes. This type of set would be passed from generation to generation. However, the percentages for picking a fancy pattern is far less now than in decades past. As a result this beautifully cared for and loved upon dishes have found their way to the adoption centers known as Thrift Stores. I have taken it upon myself to to rescue many of these forgotten treasures. I cannot think of a more appropriate and delicate vessel to serve my food on during retreats. Showcasing them out in the wild not only emphasizes their fragility but adds a sense of aged elegance to my modern courses.
